FIAT PRODUCT DESIGN COMPETITION Background to Campaign 14 July 2008

2 Fiat UK Did you know:  Fiat were the fastest growing car manufacturer in the UK in 2008?  Fiat are currently the “greenest” car manufacturer in the world? AND  Fiat are becoming synonymous with cutting-edge design?  In fact, the Fiat 500 was recently featured in the Design Museum as part of their Design of the Year 2008 Exhibition

3  In celebration of these unique design credentials, Fiat UK are running a nationwide campaign to find the next best product designer and reward them with £50,000 of investment

4 The Design Brief “Are you a budding designer? Do you have an idea that will put the fun back into getting from A to B? At Fiat, we put our engineering and design expertise into making personal transport as enjoyable as possible. We’re looking for bright young minds who think like us, and have developed products that make the mundane business of transport in the city as enjoyable as possible. Maybe you’ve found a novel way of exploiting pedal power; death slide to the bus stop from your apartment window, or even a way of using the wind to get you around town. The winning idea gets £50k, and will be showcased in our prestigious West End Flagship Store.”

This is in preparation for the big road test, which will showcase each prototype on the streets of London. It’s the ultimate Fiat Smiles Per Hour test. Phase 3:  Pitch night is 25th September. The lucky five short-listed contestants will have to use their powers of persuasion to convince the FIAT panel, and TV presenter Suzi Perry, that their brilliant prototype offers the most smiles per hour. The winner will be rewarded with a cash prize of £50,000. This will help further enhance their winning prototype, and, of course, our FIAT design and engineering experts will be available to lend a hand
