TMDB delay and production plan Augusto
2
TMDB Prototype Status The prototype boards almost fully assembled should be delivered this week ( May 5 th ) First tests should be performed in the next week ( May 12 th ) : – Power – Analog Part – FPGA programming First Report on May 19 th The boards should be available for the tests at CERN on May 21 st

TMDB Prototype Status Selected DC/DC converter being put out of the market (they were ordered in November but they were not delivered by the company. We were informed about this problem only on the beginning of April) Found some pieces in USA: delivered through Chicago (now in conversations with Brazilian customs and we hope they could be delivered by Friday) New solution being devised: a simple compatibility board for connection compatibility to a new device (DC Hope to avoid an extra delay due to this

TMDB delay causes One month delay due to the delivery of the PCB board layout by the hired company The board components were ordered by the end of October and beginning of November. They should be delivered by the middle of January. One month delay to the arrival in Brazil plus two months delay due to Brazilian customs The Brazilian authorities changed recently the procedures for imports, that is why the components took so long to be released by the authorities These components were bought through a Brazilian company that took care of the importation. Back in November, we could not use money to purchase directly the components abroad
5
TMDB schedule plan First prototypes: – Board delivery: 9 th of May – First tests in Brazil: 12 th to 19 th of May – Tests at CERN: from 21 st of May – July
6
How to avoid the delay for the next boards The main cause of the delay was due to the components purchase We have to buy the components directly on the distributors (international), but the purchase should be done by the university to avoid the delay due to the authorities inspection Since the beginning of May we have the founds that allow us to buy components abroad through the university
7
TMDB schedule plan Final Prototype (Module 0) – Design: May – Components Purchase: end of May – Board Production: June – Board Assembly: July – Tests: August-November
8
TMDB schedule plan Production – Design: The same as Module 0, no additional time required – Components Purchase: end of May and June – Board Production: September – Assembly: October-November – Installation: December-January
