4. What kind of government am I? My definition is a type of government ruled by a few people. Usually, the few ruling people are very rich or very powerful and dominate the rest of the population. Some say that the country of South Africa had this style of government 30 years ago because a small number of people were white and ruled over the large number of black people.

6. What kind of government do I have in my country? In my country, I am able to vote for my leaders. If I do not like their decisions or am unhappy with them, then I can vote for someone else next time there is an election. Because I can choose my leaders and representatives, I have a lot of freedom in my country. Read page 91 and 92

7. In the Democracy box…. Democracy = a type of government where citizens elect their leaders and representatives. Draw a picture that represents a democracy. 8. What kind of government do I have in my country? In my country, we are loyal to the King. I will go to war for my King. He makes the rules. His son will become the next King. I am fearful that he may not be a fair King. I guess I’ll have to wait and see. I do not have a lot of say in my government. (Read the first 2 paragraphs on pg. 92 under “Other Types of Government.”)

10. What kind of government do I have in my country? In my country, a man has recently taken over the government by force and created lots of new laws. I am afraid of him and his police force. Often his police force is very harsh and scary. I dare not say anything bad about our new leader. If I do, something bad may happen to me. Read the first paragraph on the right hand column of page 92.

12. What kind of government do I have in my country? In my country, we all work for the government because the government owns all the businesses. The government also makes all the business decisions. For example, the government owns all of the TV stations, so I can only watch what the government allows me to on TV. They also own all of the radio stations. Many times there are commercials about how great our government is. I am frustrated with our government because we are very poor. But I dare not say anything bad about our government. We don’t have a lot of freedoms.
