Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. Changes to Vetting and Barring CRB checks New definition of a vulnerable adult. An adult is defined as vulnerable when they are in receipt of a ‘regulated activity’ in relation to vulnerable adults.

Equality Act 2010 The act for all employers and service providers! 9 protected characteristics Cannot treat unfavourably anyone connected to these 9 characteristics.

The 9 protected characteristics Race Age Gender Religion Pregnancy Marriage Disability Sexual orientation Gender reassignment

The act gives a duty in law for all public bodies. A public sector equality duty which passes to private providers if provision is outsourced and they are providing a public service. Anyone in receipt of government funding, for example Skills Funding Agency funding, has this duty.

The General Public Sector Duty – i.e. paying due regard to the need to: 1.Eliminate discrimination 2.Advance equality of opportunity 3.Foster good relations between different groups
