2  In today’s lesson you will: 1. Know what punctuation is 2. Understand the purpose of using punctuation in your writing 3. Be able to improve your writing by using refined language and punctuation Aim: Use correct punctuation in sentences and speech.

3  Show how much you know about punctuation by rewriting the text using all the punctuation marks from the chart below. 10  Swap your writing piece with a partner. Read each other’s work.  How many verbs, good words and punctuation can you spot? Underline or highlight these.  What is good about your partner’s work?  Comment on what you could do to make it better.

11  Mark your own writing piece according to the marking criteria.  Give yourself:  a level 4 if you have met most of the criteria in your writing  a level 5 if you have applied all the skills in your writing  a level 6 and above for an organized paragraph written.  Assess your own effort and presentation for today.  Today’s lesson I: 1.
