Pre-nursing Advising began as part of the 2006 DOL Grant initiative to develop and expand the quantity and quality of nursing education. The DOL grant objectives involved: 1. Provide advising and case management to Nurse Aide students who desire entry to a PN or RN program 2. Provide intensive advising to ensure successful transition from a PN to RN program 3. *Provide intensive/ comprehensive advising services for Pre-nursing population*

The following results data describes the impact of pre-nursing services. Results-What was changed BCTC pre-nursing students had a direct contact for the Nursing Program (specifically a liaison between advising and Nursing) Such contributed to advising consistency Various Faculty and Nursing Division indicated their demand of advising services was alleviated Implications-What the data shows There is a large demand for pre-nursing services The largest sector of students includes currently enrolled students seeking ADN. Survey demonstrates high % of satisfactory services and the need for focus advising Future Nursing Career Pathways High ratio of applicants vs. # accepted allots for several hundred students needing an alternative
