33 Raw Data Data collected from an experiment which has not been put into a table or organized.

34 2 Types of Data 1.Quantitative = measurements that can be expressed as numbers. 2.Qualitative = observations made with your senses normally words or symbols.

35 A data table has 4 parts: 1.Descriptive title 2.Variables -What is being measured 1.Independent is placed in the first row. 2.Dependent variables are below 3.Units -How the variable is measured 4.O rdered pairs -the 2 numbers that represent a data point Remember: the purpose of a data table is to organize data and make it usable, so make sure your table is neat and readable.

36 Before doing the data table let’s quickly review three types of variables found in experiments… Dependent Variable – In an experiment, the factor that changes because of the independent variable. Independent Variable -The factor that is being tested. The experimenter changes it intentionally. Controlled Variable - All other factors in the experiment. These are the things you try to keep constant throughout the experiment.
