European Commission: Environment Directorate General Slide: 6 ECCP review : general objective l to review the implementation of climate change related EU-wide polices and measures, l to assess their concrete implementation in the Member States, l to assess the resulting actual and projected emission reductions, and on the basis of this analysis, l to discuss the further development of EU climate change policies to achieve the EUs and Member States obligations under the Kyoto Protocol, and beyond

European Commission: Environment Directorate General Slide: 8 Key issues l Assessment of the trends in GHG emissions for the specific sector l To evaluate the implementation of the recommendations of ECCP I Working Groups and the achievement of the commitments taken by the EC l To evaluate the concrete implementation in the MS (actual and projected emission reductions, identifying best practice, evaluating cost-effectiveness, impacts on the sectors concerned and specific gaps.) l To evaluate the progress in terms of the development of EU climate policy and consider issues in relation to the overall consistency, effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of future EU wide climate policy in synergy with the Lisbon strategy l To develop conclusions and recommendations.
