What to expect from the people: Change is never easy Change may bring about anger, frustration, misunderstanding Change is often not received well, particularly if the leadership does not believe in it Change can be an opportunity for growth, for fresh ears and eyes Some will accept this change

What to expect from Archdiocese Assist parishes to use this time of transition as an opportunity to deepen the people’s understanding of our faith – changes in the liturgy/text can be real opportunities for catechesis (Areas of Scripture, Faith, Liturgy) “Wake up some drowsy ears…” Paul Turner

Our shared opportunity: To use this time of transition to create ways for spiritual growth and deeper understanding: to find ways to engage the People of God more fully in the life of the Church, especially in the celebration of the Eucharist and making connections for living it to review our own liturgical practices in order to offer the people of the parish an opportunity to nourish their faith and come to a greater sense of unity within the liturgy to introduce changes in a systematic way that enables a smooth transition for all of us

Parish Implementation – Some Principles to Keep in Mind Set a context for the Third Edition of the Roman Missal: What is it and where does it come from? Use the Bulletin Include brief “session” in already scheduled gatherings Councils, Committees, regularly scheduled meetings of groups

Parish Implementation – Some Principles to Keep in Mind Begin speaking about the revised Missal NOW Homilies on Liturgical Catechesis GIRM no. 65: Preach on the Scriptures, another text of the Order of Mass or from the Propers of the Day Individual Ministry Groups (lectors, extraordinary ministers, choir members, etc.)

Parish Implementation – Some Principles to Keep in Mind Put the people in direct contact with the English texts of the Missal Print excerpts in the bulletin with brief background material “Preview” musical settings before Mass, at other parish gatherings Make use of existing groups (bible study, faith sharing groups, men's group, mother’s club, etc.) Go through the texts with them!
