Operated by Los Alamos National Security, LLC for NNSA U N C L A S S I F I E D Slide 2 Load a Data set For example – $CEI_HOME/ensight82/data/ami/ami.case Turn on just the hypersonic body – i.e. turn off the flowfield Then turn on the bounding box
3
Operated by Los Alamos National Security, LLC for NNSA U N C L A S S I F I E D Slide 3 Modify the bounds box in “ViewPort Mode” Click to get into viewport mode Click here to bring up Bounds Attributes Turn off Auto Size Note: by default the bounds box comes up ‘shrink-wrapped’ to the data. We seek to enlarge the bounds box so that the coordinate limits are nice, round numbers.

Operated by Los Alamos National Security, LLC for NNSA U N C L A S S I F I E D Slide 4 Modify each axis of the bounds box Foreach axis as shown, make changes to – Axis Min,Max – “Grad Type” – “# of” The result should look similar to this Explore other controls above

Operated by Los Alamos National Security, LLC for NNSA U N C L A S S I F I E D Slide 6 Alternatively, use a “3d arrow” Click here to go into “annotation mode” Click here to create/modify “3d arrows” And get this dialog
7
Operated by Los Alamos National Security, LLC for NNSA U N C L A S S I F I E D Slide 7 Create a 3d arrow Click “New”… …and get an arrow in the default location
8
Operated by Los Alamos National Security, LLC for NNSA U N C L A S S I F I E D Slide 8 Change the arrow location and orientation Location Orientation Click location tab With the newly created arrow selected
9
Operated by Los Alamos National Security, LLC for NNSA U N C L A S S I F I E D Slide 9 Change the arrow size and color Click Size tab Make changes as desired Choose a color Note that the changes made here intentionally reduce the “arrow tip” to zero since we are just using it for a scale bar (it’s a “trick”)
10
Operated by Los Alamos National Security, LLC for NNSA U N C L A S S I F I E D Slide 10 Change the arrow label Tab Text note: enter text (e.g. “10 micron”), position cursor at beginning of string and change font as desired (font change is optional)
11
Operated by Los Alamos National Security, LLC for NNSA U N C L A S S I F I E D Slide 11 The arrow shows length, so the bounds labels become unnecessary (but handy to have available for sanity check) For each axis… …set “Grid Location” To “None”
12
Operated by Los Alamos National Security, LLC for NNSA U N C L A S S I F I E D Slide 12 Flip the arrow so that the text doesn’t collide With the arrow selected… Click the “Flip” button
