5 Accomplishments: National Incident Management System 27 Training Sessions, 15 Agencies, Over 600 Staff, and 1,000 scantrons from NIMS trainings NIMS Resolutions and Adoption Emergency Plan Update Workshop

6 Opportunities 2007: National Incident Management System Continued work on Emergency Plans Tabletop Exercises Resource Management and Coordination More Training for Elected Officials and Agency Managers

7 Accomplishments: Hazard Mitigation Development of the Orange County Regional Water and Wastewater Hazard Mitigation Plan 20 Participating Agencies Grant and Agency Funded Now eligible for Pre-Disaster Mitigation Project Grants up to $3 million per project per year

8 Opportunities 2007: Hazard Mitigation A better understanding of our infrastructure and the impact of natural disasters on the Orange County water/wastewater systems Assistance for pre-disaster grant applications and project development

9 Accomplishment: Government Coordination Improved working relationship with local government agencies and the County Coordination with the State Office of Emergency Services and the Department of Health Services on grants, special projects and trainings Initiated discussions on a national level with FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security

10 Opportunities 2007: Government Coordination Increased visibility and participation in the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) Influence the CA Department of Health Services use of security grant funding

13 Accomplishments: Policies and Procedures Provided feedback on the State plan for Water Distribution Participated with several agencies on the County Dam and Reservoir Annex development team Developed Tsunami Response Annex Participated in nationwide surveys and policy reviews on emergency response and water operations

14 Opportunities 2007: Policies and Procedures Development of a standard response protocol to potential water contamination events Coordination of Water Distribution Plans during emergencies Input into national standards for security at water and wastewater facilities

15 Support for Disaster Planning Encourage preparedness and planning activities at your utility Speak on behalf of critical infrastructure protection and security funding Understand your role during an emergency
