2. Howard Terpning  Born 1929 in Oak Park, Illinois  As a boy, he wanted to be a pilot or an artist  Joined the Marine in 1945 at the age of 17.  Went to American Academy of Fine Arts  He moved to Wisconsin and painted farmers

3.  In 1967, he painted scenes from the Vietnam War  On his own, he painted seven days a week, thirteen hours a day  Worked as a commercial artist for 25 years, 17 in New York City  In 1976, he moved to Tucson to become a Western painter  Most of his Western pictures show Native Americans
