Israelites Choose A King Philistines – strongest ppl in Canaan Israelites – asked Samuel to choose a king to unite them against the Philistines –Warned them about taxes & slavery –Chose Saul anyway –David – secretly anointed king after Saul displeased God

Kingdom of Judah –620 B.C. conquered by Egyptians Paid tribute, allowed to keep religion –602 B.C. conquered by Chaldeans Paid tribute, allowed to keep religion Joined w/Egyptians & rebelled against Chaldeans 597 B.C. – Nebuchadnezzar captured Jerusalem –586 B.C. – another failed rebellion against Chaldeans Babylonian Captivity – temple destroyed, Jews forced to go to Babylon

Include a separate line explaining the meaning of your proverb.
