4. Rationale Recent significant cryospheric changes: - loss of sea ice faster than expected - Greenland Ice Sheet declining - declining snow cover - small glaciers & ice caps - permafrost increasingly vulnerable - changes in hydrology

5. Objectives To provide the Arctic Council with timely, up-to-date and synthesized scientific knowledge on: - Arctic cryospheric changes - Review of key processes - Summarize predictions from models - Analyse impacts on ecosystems - Analyse socio-economic impacts
