The third country partnership with Stellenbosch University …a name synonymous with excellence in sport and physical activity for persons with disabilities

During the last three years 14 European students spent 1-3 months at Stellenbosch. Some have completed research about Adapted Physical Activity in South Africa in particular and in Africa in general.

By 2010: 200 Erasmus Mundus students will have obtained their Masters Qualification Strengths in the partnership: Comparable academic standards. Stellenbosch offers opportunities to work in a culturally diverse environment. Students have brought different points of view. Stimulating visitation exchanges by scholars/colleagues. BONUS of the PARTNERSHIP...INSPIRATION

Universal Challenge Adapted Physical Activity is built on a Strong Volunteer Ethic: You engage to give to others, not to get something for yourself. Specific Challenges for some students: Crime rate & how to deal with it. Poverty & how to interact with it. Safety issues & how to prevent incidences. Cultural differences in dress, behaviour, etc. Resisting the colonial mentality vs. resisting the tourist mentality.
