The Hanging Gardens of Babylon

Location The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were located on the outer wall of Babylon, on the Eastern shore of the Euphrates River and just South of Baghdad, Iraq. They were built about 2500 years ago in 600 BC. Today there is nothing left of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, and they might have been purely legendary
4
Purpose They were built by Nebuchadnezzar II, the king of the Babylon Empire in 605 BC – 562 BC. The kings wife, Amytis, came from Medes, a land that was green and mountainous. When she came to Babylon she was greatly depressed by the hot, flat terrain so the king created the gardens to cheer her up. They were used as Royal Gardens to please the queen
5
Uniqueness The Hanging Gardens were unique because they are one of the 7 wonders and in Babylon it was hard to grow things because it was mostly a desert, so growing gardens on a terrace with an advanced irrigation system was very uncommon. Nobody really knows how long it took to build the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. They were made of mud brick waterproofed with lead.
6
Ancient Foresight The Hanging Gardens of Babylon are similar to the Universe Cascade because they both are elevated gardens and have different levels. The Universe Cascade is in the Garden of Cosmic Speculation and was created by Charles Jencks in South West Scotland The Hanging Gardens are one of the 7 wonders.
