7 Class Rules 1. Respect! Respect the classroom, your classmates and teacher  What does it mean? 2. Be Prepared  Always have supplies  Pens, Pencils, Paper, Notebook, Laptop 3. Watch your mouth 4. Keep your hands to yourself 5. Keep your cell phone, ipod, mp3player, etc. turned off and put away!

8 Class Procedures Warm Ups: Will be on the counter, board or power point and need to be completed in the first 5 minutes of class Tardies: Be in your seat with your stuff when the 2 nd bell rings (BE PREPARED) Backpacks/Purses: Keep off of desk! Keep on the floor or designated counter Notes: Follow Cornell Notes Format SSR: Sustained Silent Reading, Friday’s in 3 rd,first ten minutes of class Seats: Stay in one, unless working in a lab

9 Class Procedures Cont. Announcements: Be quiet Fire Drills/Evacuations: Stay with me or meet as a class, I will take roll outside Lock Down: Move to the back of room, KEEP PHONES OFF Stay Awake: I need to see your eyes! 1 st time warning 2 nd time = STAND UP! Food Labs: Must be Passing and have worked turned in! Must stay on task Dismissal: Me NOT the bell Attention: Raise my hand If you finish work early read your SSR book

10 Technology Expectations Laptops Should only be out when I give you permission  We will use them most days for assignments and warm ups You should only be on approved sites or programs  I should not see I.M.s or networking websites,etc., EVEN when you are finished with work! PHONES, MP3 players, Games, etc. Must be OFF and put away!  Phones are allowed on campus, but MUST be Turned off and put away!

11 Group Work Several Group Projects Everyone MUST have a job and participate in the assignment  If you have a question ask your group members first the come to me together with your question Groups may vary Group Job Examples  Recorder  Reporter  Material Manager  Time Keeper  IT specialist

12 Individual Work Work quietly and efficiently This is NOT time to socialize If you have a question you may ask your table mates, then raise your hand and wait for me to come to you Turn your work into the appropriate drawer and work on another assignment

13 Getting Assignments All Assignments and Activities will be posted on wikispace. My wikispace address is www.nimitz39.wikispaces.com www.nimitz39.wikispaces.com To get to Daily Assignments and Downloads click on the Nutrition Tab on the left hand side of the home page This is also where you can get make up assignments if you miss class

14 Assignments Paper Assignments should be turned into the appropriate tray labeled with you class and class period Computer Assignments should be e-mailed to foodscience.ms.payne@gmail.com and should be saved in the following format: foodscience.ms.payne@gmail.com Last Name_First Name_Period Class_Assignment name, Example: Payne_Whit_1Nutrition_Contact Info Late assignments should be turned into the tray on my desk

15 Grades 50 %= Participation, Warm Ups and Notes (notebook checks), Daily Grades 25%= Projects 25%= Tests and Quizzes Your semester exam will be 25% of your total grade! (100 questions)
