18
WHAT IS IRESC? IRESC is a voluntary organisation IRESC aims to provide international emergency communications in times of need IRESC membership is made up of radio hams and non-radio hams IRESC aims to foster friendship and collaboration between radio hams worldwide
19
WHAT’S DIFFERENT ABOUT IRESC? IRESC is truly international, with members in over 40 countries IRESC operates in a multilingual environment IRESC uses secure “Voice-Over-Internet Protocol” to link distant radio zones together
20
BUILDING THE IRESC NETWORK When disaster strikes, gathering early ‘on- the-spot’ information is essential If official communications are compromised through damage or power loss, re-establishing them can take time Often, radio hams are the first to ‘get the message out’ from a major disaster
21
WHEN THE CALL COMES… The components of the IRESC network are maintained in readiness and will come together in different ways that suit the incident at hand…
24
