2 Introduction Let’s learn about communities! In this Web Quest Project we are going to explore the community where you live. We are also going to discover what kind of a community you play in. Lastly we are going to compare different kinds of communities.

3 Definitions Rural communities are places where there is open areas, such as fields, forests, and few buildings. Most of the buildings in rural communities are houses and possibly some farms. Suburban communities are where they are houses and few businesses. Suburban communities are towns and neighborhoods with many houses. Urban communities are where there are mostly businesses and stores. There are very few houses in urban communities. Instead of houses, people live in apartments.

4 Task Your job is to use this web quest project to learn about the different kinds of communities. Using the web links you can research what each community looks like and where. You will also choose which community you would like to live in and tell us why. Lastly you will answer a few short questions comparing the community you live in with the community you would like to live in.

7 Evaluation Please answer the following questions on lined paper. What kind of a community do you live in? What is the difference between a rural community and an urban community? How are they the same? If you were able to move to another community, would it be a move to a rural, suburban or urban community?

9 Conclusion You have done a fine job identifying your community. You have learned about different communities. You have compared your community to another community and selected which one you would like to live in. Finally, think about the sounds you will hear in your community. Will there be traffic sounds, people sounds, or nature sounds?
