Single Pole Switch Used to control a light from one location

3 way Switch Used to control a light from 2 locations – has 3 terminals Example: Light switch at each end of hall Use 2 3-way switches together Dark color terminal is “common” The 2 brass screws are called “travelers”

4 Way Switch Has 4 terminals Used with 2 3-way switches in order to operate the same lights from 3 separate locations

Service Entrance Panel The origin of the electrical service for a location. Sometimes referred to as the “breaker box”

Main Disconnect A switch that allows for the entire service to be turned off at one time. For example, if a house caught fire, you could turn off one switch and the whole house would go off Emergency shop disconnects like ours
