4 Federated search and discovery (w/confidence and probability indicators) [Goal: support DoD Data-to- decisions force multiplier] Data/information (asset) re-use metrics [Goal: support ASD(R&E) data re-use objective] Cradle-to-grave visualization of STI and DoD Investment(s) [Goal: support Clinger-Cohen Act] Leveraging of metadata to improve discoverability, usability and quality of S&T data [Goal: support DTIC’s core mission – preserve S&T data and maximize its asset potential] Themes 4

5 FY13 Accomplishments 5 Accomplishments Completed an assessment of DTIC's business model and data enterprise Forged a relationship between DTIC's leadership, M&SCO leadership and the M&S Catalog team to facilitate a discovery, storage and reuse 90-day Pilot to test the Interim Operating Capability (IOC) of the M&S Catalog Completed multiple technology feasibility assessments aimed to increase DTIC’s capabilities and to aid in the transformation of DTIC’s Enterprise Architecture (EA) Completed Draft of DTIC’s objective “to-be” data architecture Created a data dictionary template and began to capture the data relationships between URED and IR&D. Selected and purchased Sparx EA tool for data modeling Completed a product/feature comparison of enterprise reporting and visualization tools Assisted with outfitting the Engine Room
