Thirteen year old Hope Sterling Witsell sent a crush a semi nude photo of herself. The topless photo text (aka sexting) ended up in the hands of almost everyone at school. As a result Hope was branded a "slut" and her school life became a living nightmare. In July 2008 teen Jessie Logan also committed suicide due to a sexting tragedy.

Definition: In Virginia, sexting can result in state felony charges, including felony solicitation of a minor and creation, possession and distribution of child pornography.
