Are able to identify ambiguous words in the workplace Assignment Description WHATWHAT HOW Notional Hours 9 Individual and group exercise. Do self study to determine the literal meaning of specific texts. In a group, compare and discuss differences of interpretation and develop strategies to correctly determine meaning of words 1.Individually study a specific work related text. 2. Identify unfamiliar words, and use acquired skills to determine the meaning of these words, listing them. 3. Compare and discuss the words and their meanings from the individual studies and note any differences in interpretations in the group 4.In small groups discuss these differences of interpretations and develop strategies to correctly determine the meanings of words 5.Present these strategies to the rest of the other groups 6.In a group make a list of all the ambiguous words that may cause misunderstanding

Prepare a list to explain your observations regarding the targeted audience and effectiveness of the ads and discuss it in groups. Compare the conclusions and explore the differences focusing on the intended audience 2.Each group designs it own basic one minute advertisement applying the techniques learned on a specified product and video tape it 3.View these advertisement. Determine whether the opposing group could identify the audience it was intended for and the purpose

A individual exercise studying workplace documents for bias. 1.Each group studies the same newspaper headings and cartoons. Discuss the views derived from the cartoons and headings. Compare the impact made by these and indicate which point of view the author is trying to shape or support. 2. Individually study workplace documents and underline any outdated or biased (racial, sexist, cultural, religious) words found. 3.Analyse the point of view created by these words and answer questions about you conclusions
