10. Start the engine Search engines are very large databases of web page files. The files are found electronically by ‘spiders’ which crawl around the Internet seeking relevant files. There are two types of search engines: Individual and Meta (or clustering) search engines.

14. Most search engines automatically insert AND between each word. There are other operators you can add yourself between words called Boolean operators. These include: OR, NOT. By using AND, OR, NOT you can narrow the search and focus on the exact information you need.

16. Understanding the meaning of AND, OR and NOT when searching for information.

18. AND/OR Was there a difference in the number of hits? –Why? Using quotes make the search more specific. It,means the search must contain both words I.E. Its like using AND Not using quotes is like using an OR it will look for either words.

19. Rules to remember OR gives you more. AND gives you less as only a small number of people contain both properties.
