BUILDING BLOCKS Purpose: To practice giving instructions using descriptive and locative classifiers, and to work on signer’s perspective. Work with partners (the one in front of you/behind you). Tell your partner how you want to build your blocks by just using classifiers (describing them and locating them).

Explaining Family Origins Grammar When explaining your family’s origins, first you need to _list_the person(s) you are talking about. (i.e. your mom, dad, grandmother, grandfather, etc…) Typically, start with your mom and dad. Then you can easily _trace_ back your family history using mom and dad as your _point_ of _reference____.

Family Origin, continued Tell how much of a particular nationality that person is, remembering to use _closing____ signals. (Think predicate adjective and predicate nominative.) Remember, when discussing other relatives related to that person, keep the nouns first and then the _adjectives____. (Example: grandmother hers, sister his)
