2.  My background  I grew up in Miami, Florida.  I attended Howard Drive Elementary, Killian Senior High, Florida Memorial University, and Nova Southeastern University  I have a Bachelors in Elem. Ed and a Masters in Mathematics  My experience  I’ve been teaching for 12 years.  I have also taught high school courses such as Algebra and Geometry.  Go to hammocksmiddleschool.org

It is with great pleasure and anticipation that I welcome you and your child to the 2015-2016 school year at Hammocks Middle School The mathematics department has a lot of exciting plans to engage our students in the discovery of mathematics, build upon mathematical understanding, and encourage critical thinking. It is very important that our students are present, prepared and engaged in all activities. It is my goal to challenge my students to be the best student they can be. This year our school theme is Discovering ‘A’ New World. I welcome you and your child to the best school year ever!

5. Pre-Algebra COURSE DESCRIPTION:  Pre-algebra, is a math course emphasizing the basic core goals of general mathematics but with an emphasis on skills leading to preparation for Algebra I.  Instruction will be aligned with Mathematics Florida Standards (MFA’s). 7.  Homework will be checked daily for completion and graded weekly and will count as one grade. One home learning assignment will be selected and graded. It is to your advantage to complete all assignments. You will not know which assignment will be selected.  Homework is given Monday through Thursday and sometimes on Friday  Homework must be done at home using homework guidelines.

10. Tardiness- it is very important that your child is on time to class. Excessive tardiness will result in the following:  1 st time- warning  2 nd time- student/teacher talk  3 rd time- detention  4 th time- parent contact  5 th time- referral

12. MATH TEXTBOOK:  Each student will be given a student work text. An online edition of the hard copy math textbook can be found on the student portal.  (note: Digital Math Academy (Math Lab) is due at the end of the 9 weeks)
