3 Review of Unit 2 The roles and responsibilities of an individual with a career in child development vary depending on the types of setting in which they work. However, one thing is for sure: individuals working with young children need to treat the children equally while providing them with the different needs that they require. In addition, in order to meet all the roles, we must be able to take care of ourselves! Does anyone have any questions? Thoughts? Ah ha moments?

4 Unit 3: Center-based Careers There are many ways to work with young children and their families, and so many ways to make a difference. This week you will explore center-based careers as well as a visit from your trusted friend, Spartacus to learn tips on taking notes and taking tests. Are you ready to begin?

5 It’s Time to Share! Do any of you work in center-based programs – or – have children that attend them? Jump in!

6 Seminar Questions What are some of the duties that a professional in a center-based childcare center may be expected to carry out? What questions or concerns do you have about these duties? Share your thoughts!!!

12 Virtual Field Trip Let’s visit a For-Profit Licensed Childcare Center, shall we? Go to the program page and explore the different classrooms, the ages of the children and the staff to child ratios. Remember, these vary from state to state. 13 Resources What are some potential resources for the professional working in a center-based childcare center? Are your parents a resource? What about your colleagues? State or National Organizations? Do you have a childcare resource agency in your state?

If you have extenuating circumstances that prevent you from completing projects or participating in the class, please contact me as soon as possible as I do worry about my students. 15 Graded Reviews This week you will have two graded reviews. Please use the readings as well as the tips from Spartacus to assist you in answering the questions. Take your time, you have two hours to complete each review.
