Call to Order The Public Hearing for the purchase of a new Mid Sized Truck (Top Kick Replacement) in the amount of $114,000 is called to order.

Purpose of this public hearing The purpose of this public hearing is to present the details for the purchase of a new truck in the amount of $114,000 To listen to your input.

Background: The Village District owns a 4 wheel drive mid-sized truck (2005 GMC C5500) that was purchased in 2005 for a total of $ 78,626.80. We refer to this truck as the Top Kick. In 2014 the Top Kick required $12,342.98 in maintenance to keep it on the road and operational for snow repair. The Top Kick is a mid-sized truck has served the district well in snow plow work with a wing. As a sander, the 2005 GMC C5500 has double the sanding capacity of the 550 truck our small truck. We believe that a mid-sized truck is the right truck for the district.

Background: The Top Kick is a primary snow fighting tool The Top Kick does not require a CDL license to operate, meaning that we can send any of our part time snow plow personnel out at any time to clear any road in the district. The Top Kick is Big enough to support a wing plow With double the sanding capacity of the 550, the top kick requires half the trips to the sand pile, keeping our DPW staff on the road.

Research We considered 3 options A Ford 550 configured exactly the same as our existing Ford 550. $65,000 A Ford 550 with a 2 cu yard sander and wing $83,000 A 2014 TERRASTAR SFA 4x4 (TR005) Mid Sized Truck $114,000 Each option was a 4 wheel drive truck with a sander and a plow. The Mid-sized truck (TERRASTAR) was selected because it has a stronger frame, large capacity sander and wing providing a good initial snow fighting platform. Annual cost impact over an F-550 is $.08/year It was noted that the new grader can also provide wing-back services, but that it requires a specially trained operator, has no sander. The grader is great for cleanup operations especially using the wing to push back snow further than any other truck. But it is not a primary snow fighting platform.
