8 Homework Tips  Show interest in your child’s assignments and discuss plans for completing them.  Be a role model. Read or do paperwork while your child studies or completes homework.  Check their homework calendar, website, or www.new.schoolnotes.com to help your child organize their assignments.  Eliminate opportunities for forgetting homework by enforcing a mandatory homework time.  In joint-custody families have similar homework procedures in both households.  For writing assignments and projects, help your child focus and organize, talk through ideas, read drafts, and offer suggestions.

17 Help Your Child Prepare for School  Support them as they learn to be responsible for bringing homework and other materials in their backpacks.  Provide a healthy breakfast. This is extremely important for their nutrition and focus at school.  Make sure they get the recommended 9- 10 hours of sleep per night.
