Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) Police officers are sworn police personnel under the authority granted by Illinois law and have the power to make arrests.

EMERGENCY TELEPHONES Located in a variety of locations throughout campus The emergency button automatically dials 911 which will put you in direct contact with SIUE Police and also notifies dispatch of your exact location. The non-emergency button can be used for car trouble, to obtain an escort, or any other non- emergency situation. These calls also go directly to the SIUE Police Department.

If you lock your keys in your car call the Police Department at 3324 and an officer will be dispatched to your location as soon as they are available. VEHICLE LOCKOUTS

Jump-starts to inoperable vehicles are available through the Parking Services Department or jumper cables can be borrowed from the Police Department VEHICLE JUMP-START

ESCORT SERVICE The University Police provide an escort service to those individuals who feel apprehensive about walking alone on campus. The Police will escort you from campus location to campus location or to your vehicle in a campus parking lot. For this service, contact the Department at Ext. 3324.

REPORTING AN INCIDENT The SIUE Telecommunicator is prepared to dispatch police, ambulance, and/or fire services. They will need accurate information as quickly as possible to assist you. To report an incident: When There is an Emergency Dial 9-1-1 Non-Emergency Calls Use Extension 3324

When You Call, Be Prepared To Give The Following Information: DESCRIBE THE SUSPECT – Sex? Race? Height? Weight? Hair Color? Clothing? Speech? Body Build? Personal Identification Marks? DESCRIBE THE VEHICLE – Make? Model? Color? Approximate Year? License Plate? Dents, Rust, Special Markings? Direction of Travel? DESCRIBE THE EVENT – What Happened? When? Where? How? Who?
