Statistics More than 50 STD’s 1 out of every 4 teens will get an STD at some point in their life 4 STD’s can be fatal 12 million new cases of STD’s reported each year 2/3 of new cases in teens/young adults Some will not be prevented by condoms

Ways to Avoid Abstinence - Only sure way to protect oneself from acquiring an STD Sexual Fidelity - Medical checkup - Monogamous relationship Precautions - Latex condoms – physical barrier - Only takes one contact - Always a chance of failure – 15 – 30% fail No Drug Use - Transferred by blood to blood - Contaminated needles - Lower Inhibitions
