2 Rules Capitalize: 1.The first word of every sentence. 2.The pronoun I and the interjection O. 3. Proper nouns and proper adjectives.

3 Rules Capitalize: 4.The names of persons. 5.Geographical names. 6.The names of organizations, teams, business firms, institutions, buildings, and government bodies.

4 Rules Capitalize: 7. The names of historical events and periods, special events, and holiday and other calendar items. 8. The names of nationalities, races, and peoples. 9. Brand names and business products.

5 Rules Capitalize: 10.The names of ships, monuments, awards, planets, and any other particular places, things, or events.

6 NOTE: NOT Do NOT capitalize earth, moon, and sun UNLESS they are being used along with other astronomical names that are capitalized (as in a listing).

7 Rules NOT 11. Do NOT capitalize the names of school subjects, EXCEPT for the names of languages and courses followed by a number.

8 Rules Capitalize: The title of a person when it comes before the name. 13. Words showing family relationship when used with a person’s name but NOT when preceded by a possessive.
