Playground of rich & famous.. “upscale urban jungle”

Malta 4 Location: south of Sicily in Mediterranean Sea 4 Size: 122 square miles 4 Population: 359,231 4 Interesting Facts: strategic location between North Africa and Sicily has it “caught in the middle” of many historical battles; overpopulation is a problem; 3 small islands; member of United Nations

Liechtenstein 4 Location: Switzerland/ Austria border 4 Size: 62 square miles 4 Population: 28,642 4 Interesting Facts: Huge wooden cross marks Naakopf Peak where one can sit/stand in 3 countries at once: Austria, Liechtenstein and Switzerland; ski resort; mfg.of material for false teeth & dental appliances (20 million false teeth made in a year)

San Marino 4 Location: Italy in the Apennines Mountains 4 Size: 24 square miles 4 Population: 23,404 4 Interesting Facts: founded early in the 4th century by persecuted Christians; oldest republic of Europe…Mainstay of tourism trade is sell of miniature liquor bottles

Vatican City 4 Location: Rome, Italy 4 Size:.169 square mile 4 Population: 802 4 Interesting Facts: headquarters of Roman Catholic Church/surrounded by Rome; the Pope has absolute political authority- theocracy; smallest of the six/Sistine Chapel/museums

Activity On the back of your notes sheet, draw a “logo” to advertise each of Europe’s six microstates. Do not use more than 3 words per drawing. Use colored pencils and fill up as much space as possible.
