Who is the Author? He was a major poet of the day. Devout mind with interest in theology (not a professional cleric, however). Had a sense of humor Knew Latin and French and well read in French literature. From the western area of Britain- a less populated area and more conservative than his contemporary Chaucer who was from London. He was a major poet of the day.
