Development of advocacy strategy for IYCF and partners’ contributions Nutrition Sub-Cluster 13.05.2015

Objectives Inform key national and international stakeholders on the grave nutrition situation of the conflict-affected vulnerable groups, especially children and pregnant and lactating women. Advocate with potential donors through synchronized and harmonized efforts to mobilize funds for priority nutrition interventions. Engage with all donors, government, humanitarian community actors to obtain their public commitment to stop donation and general distribution of breast milk substitutes and educate them about appropriate infant and young child feeding.

Stakeholders All nutrition Sub-Cluster partners to engage Target audience: – Potential donors – Health authorities and healthcare workers – All humanitarian community actors, especially local volunteer groups and NGOs – Key national and international decision-makers, stakeholders, donors.

Channels Media Social media (ex. Facebook and Twitter) Web (cluster and partners) Briefings (ad hoc events and one-to-one meetings) Key information materials (i.e. briefing notes, donor briefs, power point presentation, others)

Core advocacy kit – WHO? Key messages, including the communications line that all involved Organizations will use in a coherent manner Questions & Answers, as an internal document for reference (including to counteract manufactures of BMS) IYCF statement - done Core presentation, to brief targeted audiences during meetings and events Donor fiches Leaflet, to leave behind an attractive, easy-to-understand document for quick reference on IYCF-E Infograph/factographs
