2 Parts of Verbs Verbs have three parts: Regular verbs: Past participle
Present (infinitive) Walked walked walk invited invite Played played Play carried Carry

3 past participle past present (infinitive)
B) Irregular verbs: past participle past present (infinitive) run ran told tell drunk drank drink eaten ate eat put

4 past participle past present (infinitive) been was / were verb to be am / is / are done did verb to do do / does had verb to have have / has

5 When do we use the present perfect tense???
For actions which happened in the past, but we don’t mention exactly when. Examples ●Omar doesn’t live in Cairo any more . He has moved to Port Said. ●They have painted the whole house.

6 For actions which started in the past and continued up to the present.
Examples: ●We have had this car since September. ●They have painted the whole house.

7 We use the present perfect tense for recently completed actions.
Examples: ●She has just done the homework.. ●They have already eaten out.

8 I have just finished my homework.
I finished my homework an hour ago. He went to the club yesterday. Mother made a cake last Friday. I have just finished my homework. He has already been to the club. Mother hasn’t made a cake yet.

9 How do we form the present perfect tense??
1- THE POSITIVE SENTENCE: Subject + have / has + past participle Examples: Noha has seen her uncle for a month. I have lived in New York for ten years. Look ! Everywhere is white. It has snowed.

10 Subject + have / has + not + past participle
2- THE NEGATIVE SENTENCE: Subject + have / has + not + past participle Examples: I haven’t eaten my dinner yet. He hasn’t finished his work . Yasser hasn’t slept early. we have never been to China.

11 Have / has + subject + past participle
3- THE QUESTION: Have / has + subject + past participle Examples: Have you ever seen this movie? Has the dog gone for a walk? Have they practiced for the match?

13 already – just – so far - yet (since and for ) + a period of time
Examples: ●I have just cleaned the house. ●He has already been to Mecca. ●They have built two new houses so far. ●Heba has studied English since 2004. ●You haven’t written the letter yet.
