7. Focus: To enhance the attitude towards reading of reluctant and/or at risk readers, by creating online blog ‘Reading Conversations’. This will explore a combination of text, photos and podcasts by students in order to share their enjoyment of what they have read and promote this with others.

8. How did it work? Buddies (reluctant/at risk readers) are buddied with a Mentor (capable reader) Books are reviewed on line Review + photo of book cover + audio of passage from the book Others in the school/world read the review and post comments about the book too

Highlights in Attitude and Achievement Improved attitude to reading Improved perception of own ability Reading ability improves Mentors acknowledge how this has given them new skills in working with others and teaching others. Most students have indicated that they have learnt new ICT skills that they would like the opportunity to use in class, or share with a wider group of people. Some of the Buddies are indicating that they would now like to be mentors – what a leap in confidence this shows!
