Classical West ENDURING UNDERSTANDING The endurance of a civilization relies on the competence of its government. The achievements of past civilizations resonate in the modern world. ESSENTIAL QUESTION Doe the past affect us today? Explain the impact of geography on the development of Greek and Roman history. Compare and contrast Athenian and Spartan culture. Describe the characteristics of Greek art and architecture. Evaluate the democratic government of Athens. Analyze and compare the major ideas taught by Greek philosophers
