Around the 1800’s most aboriginals migrated to Canada because of poverty, low wages, bad working conditions, and most were homeless and scarce on food. But in 1896 off the coast of Newfoundland was where the Inuit, Huron, the Blackfoot, the Micmac, the Beothuck, the Haida, and the Iroquoians lived. They lived their life perfectly and weren’t worried about a thing but when the Europeans groups mostly known as the Norse and Vikings came they took over the aboriginals way of life. They changed life for all, aboriginals were moved into reserves, they lost some of their right, and some of their freedoms. The aboriginals way of life has been lost forever. Also because of the European’s arriving pollution, technology, money, food, jobs and land became a huge problem, but it wasn’t about to end yet.

The process of the formation and growth of cities; the change in a country or region when its population migrates from rural to urban areas. In the 1900’s, the West was being settled rapidly into the urban areas. Increased population created a need for new products made quick and efficient. Skilled craftsman people who worked at a small factory that was smaller than a modern house today who lived out in the country moved out into the urbanization areas where they got better jobs in the huge factories. They were paid more, worked long hours and for example one person would make one coat in a week in the 1800’s but several people would make several coats in one day in the 1900’s at the factories. With the huge population of people moving into the urban areas there were many problems were farmers were moving into the urban areas trying to get a better job to make more money but the less farmers the more scarce the food would be for many people. Also with the rapid growth the longer it took for housing to grow the more people went homeless this proves that the cities were not ready have thousands of people move into the cities so fast.

In the 1900’s people were moving into Urban areas people were moving out of rural areas this made food become more scarce by…. Farmers moved out into the urban areas which caused the less farmers to produce crops so the less people wouldn’t have food. Foods couldn’t be shipped across the country as quick because of old technology being used so by time the food got to cities it would be rotten. Lastly, food was scarce for most people because most people couldn’t afford food. The cause of this was because of the low wage in the working industry.

Work was horrible in the 1800’s because of…. At the turn of the century new factories and mills were opened up but they were harsh, tiring, and uncomfortable working conditions. Machinery was unsafe and many were getting hurt or were killed. Women worked sewing garments they would work in their own houses such as the attic and these conditions were as bad as the factory conditions. These house shops they worked in earned the name “sweatshops”!

Back at the turn of the century…. Women were paid less than men were some women would get as much as $3.50 a week some as low as $2 where men were paid around $11. Women who made the garments were paid as much as 26 cents for a jacket and 17 cents for a vest. In factories if anyone broke the rules there wages were deducted 10 to 15 cents just for taking a drink of water, wastefulness, working to slowly or sitting down on the job.

Before the European’s arrived the aboriginals way of life was perfect there was no war, no alcohol, or over hunting. Once the European’s arrived everything was about to change European’s bring alcohol and all aboriginals would use their wages to gamble, food became scarce once animals were being over hunted new industries were being opened, new machinery was being made and new technology was taking the aboriginals old way of life turn into nothing. Since the turn of the century when the European’s came in and took over the Aboriginal’s way has been lost forever, but many have tried to bring it back.

Now Then Technology (IPod Touches, TV’s) Great working conditions everywhere. Great wages $18.00 to $25.00 or more in most jobs. Children are not allowed to work in factories. Now workers would get paid for getting hurt and sit at home being lazy. Workers work for around 7 to 8 hours a day. Families have huge homes. Poor children are taken care of well Wooden Toys Bad working conditions Bad wages 25 cents to 75 cents a day or week. Children had to work in factories at a young age.
