What is Population Distribution? Population Distribution: The pattern of population in a country, continent or the world. o Only 30% of Earth is made up of land o Much of that land is inhospitable; mountain peaks, deserts, frozen tundra o Europe and Asia most densely populated

Rural: An area without a lot of industry; countryside. Industrialization: The process of becoming a country with more industry.

What factors determine Population Distribution? Conflicts: many refugees relocate looking for stability and escape from persecution. Refugee: a person who flees to another country to escape persecution or disaster.

What are characteristics of Human Populations? Birth and death rates (factoring in war, disease, and migration). Birth rate: the number of births per year for every 1,000 people. Death rate: the number of deaths per year for every 1,000 people.
