5.  Lighted Power and Alarm Indicator - LED assures the battery is properly connected and a visual indication of what unit initiated the alarm.  Tamper Resistant Locking Pin - Locks alarm cover to prevent removal of battery.  Test/Silence Button - One touch button combines both features.  Low Battery Indicator - Beeping signal warns when battery needs replacing. 7. Before You Install This Smoke Alarm  This unit monitors the air  Must be installed correctly, located where smoke can reach it, and where all residents can hear it.  This unit will not sense gas, heat, or flame.

8.  Unit will not operate without battery power.  This Smoke Alarm has a battery guard which prevents it from closing unless a battery is installed.  It is a single-station unit that cannot be linked to other devices.  This unit will not alert hearing impaired residents Before You Install This Smoke Alarm

9. Recommended Locations For Smoke Alarms

10.  Keep units at least 10 feet away from showers, saunas, dishwashers, etc.  Do not install a Smoke Alarm directly over the stove or range.  Do not install near fresh air vents, ceiling fans, or in very drafty areas.  Less than 12 inches away from fluorescent lights. Electrical “noise” can interfere with the sensor.  “Dead air” spaces may prevent smoke from reaching the Smoke Alarm. Locations To Avoid For Smoke Alarms

11. How to Install the Smoke Alarm

12.  For minimum security install one Smoke Alarm as close to each sleeping area as possible.  Many older mobile homes have little or no insulation. If your mobile home is not well insulated, or if you are unsure of the amount of insulation, it is important to INSTALL UNITS ON THE INSIDE WALLS ONLY.  For wall mounting the top edge of Smoke Alarms should be placed between 4 inches and 12 inches from the wall/ceiling line, below typical “dead air” spaces.
