Quiz MONDAY Maria is saving to buy a new bicycle. The bicycle will cost her $250. If she uses her mother’s Frequent Buyer Card, she will receive a 10% discount which will be $25 off the regular price. She currently has saved $167.93. Does Maria have enough money saved up to buy the bicycle? Why or why not?
6
Does she have enough money saved? Bicycle cost $250 Gets 10% off ($25) Has $167.93 The bicycle will cost her $250. I subtracted $25 (10%) from the original cost, so it would cost her $225 to buy the bicycle. She already has $167.93, so I subtracted that from the cost of the bike ($225 – 167.93) and that leaves $57.07 that she still needs to be able to buy the bike. No, Maria does not have enough money to buy the bike, she will still need $57.07 more. $250.00 – $25.00 = $225.00 $225.00 – $167.93 =$57.07

Quiz TUESDAY The ice cream truck comes to the beach. Mrs. Davis gives her daughter $5. She gets a Choco Taco for $1.25, a Rocket for $.95, and 2 Creamcicles for $.85 each. How much change should she get back?
11
How much change will she get back? Daughter has $5 1 choco taco $1.25 1 rocket $.95 2 creamcicles.85 each I added $1.25, $.95, $.85, and $.85 together to get the total cost of all the ice cream which is $3.90. She has $5 so I subtracted how much the ice cream cost from the $5. ($5.00 - $3.90) which is $1.10. She will get back $1.10 in change. 1.25 +.95 +.85 +.85 =$3.90 $5.00 - $3.90 = $1.10

Most of the state names in the United States end in a vowel. Of the 50 states,1/2 of the state names end in either an a or an e and 3/25 end in either an i or an o. If none of the state names end in a u, what is the fraction of state names that end in a vowel? What fraction part of the state names end in a vowel? 50 states ½ end in a or e 3/25 end in i or o None end in u Justification must explain what was done in the “solve” box, and must be in complete sentences! Quiz THURSDAY By 11 a.m. on Friday, 72% of Mrs. Lee’s 7 th graders had turned in their POTW’s. What fractional part of the students had NOT yet turned in their POTW’s?
21
What fraction part of her students had not turned in their assignment? 72% turned in Fractional part NOT turned in I subtracted the 72% of the students that turned in their assignment from 100%. That left 28% that did not turn it in. 28% is equal to 28/100, and when reduced by dividing by 4, it equals 7/25. 7/25 of her students had not turned in their assignment. 72% turned in 100% - 72% 28% NOT turned in

Quiz FRIDAY of the people who came to the reception ate at least 2 chocolate chip cookies. What percent of the people ate at least 2 chocolate chip cookies?
26
9/10 of the people who came to the reception ate at least 2 chocolate chip cookies. What percent of the people ate at least 2 chocolate chip cookies? 9/10 is equal to what percentage? 9/10 ate chocolate chip What percent ate chocolate chip I set up a proportion to find the equivalence. The scale factor from 10 to 100 is 10, so I multiplied 9 times 10 to get 90/100. Since 90 is over 100, that is your percentage. 9/10 is equal to 90%. 90% of the people ate 2 or more chocolate chip cookies. Multiply by a scale factor of 10
