3 ARC’s Integrated Planning Process
Program Review Comprehensive review of program. Outcomes are created to address identified strengths and challenges to improve student learning Data Quantitative and qualitative data used to evaluate outcomes SLO Assessment Resulting from the assessment process, actions are created to improve student learning at the course, program, & institutional level. Evaluation of Outcomes and Resources Assessment of progress on outcomes and resources Educational Master Plan Outcomes are created through program review, SLO assessment & department planning Resources Needed to achieve outcomes

8 Outcomes vs. Resources Outcome (formerly known as objective)
Identification and evaluation of the results of an activity, plan, process, or program and their comparison with the intended or projected results or output measures Resource An economic or productive factor required to accomplish an outcome OR a means to undertake an enterprise and achieve a desired outcome. Four basic resources are space, staff, equipment, and funding. source:

10 Best Practices Review previous outcomes for specificity, relevancy, reliability, measurability, and reasonability Consider how these outcomes support your program review and student learning outcomes assessment: what do the data tell you? Consider what your department’s resource needs are in terms of the 3 categories: ongoing department needs, next fiscal year, long term planning Plan your process for dialogue – input and feedback

11 Special Attention: Remember ~ Outcomes cannot be marked “completed” or “no longer applicable” if resources continue to be requested for that outcome.
