ICT Key Skills Level 3 Strategy of Achievement
2
Strategy Diagnose for Level 2 –Diagnostic Assessment 5 to 6 hours –Feedback to learner Verbal Immediate Differentiation –Work towards next level of achievement
3
Suggested Diagnostic Assessment Spreadsheet: –Costing of products sold in a company with overheads deducted –Set up folders spreadsheets, word and dbase –E-mail – spreadsheet and response from student –Recall spreadsheet –Format headings, Align 1 st column left and remainder right. Format cells to currency where appropriate and percentage –Create and modify table structures including add, remove and size rows and columns, set borders and shading, split and merge cells – Apply formula: Multiplication for calculation of VAT and Total Deduction of overheads to determine profit –Sum, Average, Min and Max –Absolute cell reference –Replication of formula
4
Spreadsheet continued –Create charts to show results or trends including selecting data series, type of chart and suitable titles, legends, labels, axes. –Find text, values and formulas in spreadsheet cells. Find and replace and change values. –Change values and formula to explore effects and predict results. Effect on profit if the overheads change. –Sort in descending in order of cost – Manually calculate the profit to prove formula. Check formulas and functions for accuracy – Print spreadsheet to fit page showing values and gridlines. Also print formulae. – Set, copy, move and clear cells (and cell range) contents and formats – Insert, delete and size rows and columns. Insert Cost or delete cost. Insert column. – Save using appropriate file name – Print preview and Print again –Create charts to show results or trends including selecting data series, type of chart and suitable titles, legends, labels, axes. – Print preview screen dump and Print chart – Combine into Word Spreadsheet and Graphs – Present lists of data using tabulation including left, right and centre – Save again then also save a backup copy using a different file name – E-mail work when completed
5
Word Processing –Health and Safety at Work 1974 document. – Set page layout for left, right, top and bottom margins, orientation, headers and footers. – Insert file into three column leaflet – Format, Bullets, and numbering of paragraphs and lists. Implement bullets and numbering of paragraphs and lists. – Apply suitable fonts, styles and sizes. – Insert General Health and Safety signs. Select, insert and process images including size, crop, text wrap, use of behind/in front. – Position using boxes (for single object) arrow. – Present documents in column layout including width spacing and separator lines. – Find components of documents including specified text. – Health and Safety information sheet with Health and Safety signs applicable to curriculum and what they mean. – Print preview and check document layout – Screen dump of grammatical check and spell check. – Save using a appropriate file name and backup copy. –E-mail information for a table – Copyright
6
Database –Import dbase in appropriate folder– set field properties including type size format and primary key. – Add a table – Find text and values – search and replace – Print table – Queries with sort Print – Produce queries <>= AND OR NOT and Print – Find text including wildcards – Reports using report wizard from queries and Print

Individual Learning to Achieve Level 3 Short Term Goals –Action Plan –Review Dates Long Term Goals –Completion of Key Skill

General Criteria File management with level 3 and then Word, Spreadsheet, Database, Locate files recall and search. Email and attachments download files and rename Document format bullets and numbering paragraphs and lists including multilevel bullets and numbering Mail merge including creation and printing of the unmerged main document, creation or selection of the data source using suitable software and production of the merged document. Mail merge using text files (both plain text and comma separated values) from image files and other applications. Find components of documents including specified text, whole word searches and with/without case sensitivity. Images – Watermark, cropped, text wrap, use of behind/infront/through – posters – powerpoint presentations Document layout – Pagination, paragraphs, tables, columns, graphics
10
Spreadsheet Criteria Spreadsheets using – lookup tables, functions sum, average, min, max, if, lookup Logical operators AND, OR NOT Absolute cell referencing Formatting numeric, percentage, currency, date and time Checking accuracy Charts – results or trends including selecting data series, type of chart and suitable titles, legends, labels, axes. Format charts including titles, labels, colours and borders. Sort ascending and descending Printing selecting areas, gridlines, formatting techniques and formulae, hiding data
11
Database Criteria Develop database structures by creating tables and defining field names, data types and sizes including text, number, currency, date, time, logical Set field properties including type, size, format, data validation (value and range checks), primary key Document database structures including printing names, data types and sizes Merge Database tables Produce queries – relational operators – logical operators Produce database reports based on tables or queries Design queries and reports including sorting and grouping data Apply single and multiple sort criteria to group items and sort data into ascending or descending order. Develop and format reports including titles, spacing, lines, headers, footers, grouping and summarizing
12
Negotiate Assignment Brief Assignment Criteria –3.1.1 plan how to obtain and use the information required for your tasks –3.1.2 make selections based on judgements of relevance and quality. MUST: –3.2.1 enter and bring together information using formats that help development –3.2.2 use software features to improve the efficiency of your work –3.2.3 annotate/document your work to show that you have understood the processes followed and have taken account of the views of others. –3.3.1 develop the presentation so it is accurate, clear and presented consistently, taking account of the views of others –3.3.2 present your final output effectively using a format and style that suits your purpose and audience. NOTE: A draft copy must be included within the project to show development
13
Summary Key Steps –Strategy –Diagnose current ability –Feedback –Set Goals –Deliver Underpinning Knowledge –Production of a relevant portfolio
