SECTION I For more knotty notions such as free indirect speech recall where you encountered the phenomenon in question, for example, say that in “How To Get Into Medical School” free indirect speech is used in the episode when Ming… (name the episode). For others, prepare examples in advance. For the list of terms you must be familiar with, see the updated List of Terms on the course website.

Section II Identify by author and title five (5) of the following ten (10) quotations. In each case, comment in one well-organized paragraph on the significance of the quotation to the work from which it is taken. Be sure to give the author’s full name and the full titles of the works and to number your answers carefully. The numerical grade of a possible 30 marks breaks down as follows: 1. 1 for the author 2. 1 for the work 3. 4 for the discussion of significance = 6x 5 = 30 marks This section is cumulative and includes ALL the stories from the course reading list and The Hunger Games. NOTE: The same text can be used more than once!

Section III Select one (1) of the following five (5) options and write a well-organized essay response. Feel free to comment on any or all of the works discussed in section 2, but not on the same aspect. In other words, do not duplicate your answers. Be specific, give examples, pay attention to details, do not retell too much, avoid empty statements and repetitions in the body of the essay or in conclusion. Only original ideas will count, not the number of blackened pages, but the minimal number of paragraphs in the essay should be six (each paragraph contains the development of a point, while the number of pages depends on your handwriting).
