SHAC History Established 1972 to “provide formal student participation into administration of UCLA Student Health Services”. An officially recognized UCLA student committee Allows for funding from administration

SHAC vs. SHAs at UCLA SHA-Group health educators Trained through health science course SHAC-SHS advisory panel Provides oversight and input into the SHS Establish formal relationships with campus groups and campus administrators

Compensation and Eligibility Membership: 4 members appointed by Undergraduate Students Association Council (USAC) 4 members appointed by Graduate Students Association (GSA) Term of Service One to two years, no more than 2 consecutive terms or 4 years. SHAC Member Accountability: >1 unexcused absence per quarter Academic probation Disciplinary action by the university Required electronic presence

Officers Undergraduate and Graduate co-chair. Elected annually at the first general meeting.

Stipends Determined by student fee advisory committee $1800 per year Additional $900 for chair Forfeit if missing 2 or more unexcused absences.

Meetings General meetings: 4 per quarter Most of the work is done electronically Special meetings Participates in the negotiation and selection of Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) (~10 meetings)
