What is GCNet? Ghana Community Network Services Ltd. Joint venture Government / private sector with a specific mandate to provide an EDI service and a computerized customs management system. Consists of two complementary Systems- - The Tradenet - The Ghana Customs Management System

Assistance World Bank funding accounts for Ghana Customs share in PPP arrangement. System is self sustaining in terms of maintenance and replacement of equipments. System funds provision of networks & equipments etc for MDA’s. However, connection of Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to TradeNet received funding from the World Bank.

Assistance World Bank funds the Gateway Project which has as its main objective the modernization of frontline institutions/agencies that deal with investors by re-engineering them into trade facilitators. E.g –Computerization of Ghana Customs (PPP). –ISO certification for Ghana Customs –Modernization of Port infrastructure and IT system. –Development of Export Processing Zones (EPZ).
