The definition of Solar energy is: The energy received by the Earth from the sun in the form of radiation.

How is the energy source used to produce electricity? Its used in many ways fuels, gasses, and electricity Solar energy is a renewable resource. Sunlight can be changed into electrical energy through the use of solar cells or photovoltaic cells. Solar energy can be used directly to heat buildings and to generate electrical energy.

Petroleum is also called crude oil. More than 40% of the earths energy comes from petroleum products. Petroleum is separated in to several kinds of products. Crude oil is so valuable that its often called black gold. Petroleum is a nonrenewable resource.
