FACTS He was born on May 27, 1898 in Nashville,Tennessee. He died in 1976. His full name was David Nelson Crosthwait. He was an engineer and a writer.

Education She he became a teenager, David grew up and attended Purdue University. He studied mechanical engineering. Crosthwait got his first science degree in 1913. Then he moved to Kansas City, Missouri.

After College After graduating in 1913, he took a job with the C.A. Dunham company.

Accomplishments He was the first African American to invent heating systems and air conditioning. He was the technical advisor of Dunham-Bush,Inc.
