2010-2011 District Highlights GCISD students took more than 3,480 advanced placement exams, an increase from last year’s 3,300 exams taken, and a 37 percent increase in the number of exams taken since 2005. In addition, students consistently scored higher than those at the state and national levels, with 72 percent scoring a three or higher and 42 percent scoring a four or higher on a scale of 0-5. Overall, average AP scores for GCISD student increased from 3.15 in 2009 to 3.22 in 2010. AP exam participation and average scores increase

2010-2011 District Highlights Grapevine-Colleyville ISD students scored higher in all three areas of the SAT exam than did students at the state and national levels, continuing a trend of several years. The SAT exam in sponsored by the College Examination Board and tests students’ Math, Critical Reading and Writing skills. Most students take the SAT during their junior or senior year of high school, and exam performance factors into admissions decisions at many colleges and universities. 2010-2011 District Highlights Seven GCISD students were recognized nationally for their academic successes: Ketetha Olengue (CHHS), Briana Felix (CHHS), Ehiedu Agboje (GHS) and Ariel Bridges (GHS), were named National Achievement Program Outstanding Participants. Grace Mabry (CHHS), Maya Deplaza (CHHS) and Christopher Hurtado (GHS) were named National Merit Hispanic Scholars. Students recognized for academic achievements

2010-2011 District Highlights GCISD students and staff recently participated in National Red Ribbon week. Among the many activities held on campuses was the Decorating Contest. 2010-2011 District Highlights Girls from Colleyville Heritage High School never dreamed that their Redefining Beautiful student club would receive media attention, much less national and international media attention. After deciding to go without makeup one day a week to make a statement about inner beauty and self-confidence, the girls were featured in local media, did an ABC News online segment and were interviewed live from CHHS on the CBS Early Show. 2010-2011 District Highlights For the eighth consecutive year, GCISD received a rating of “Superior Achievement” under Texas’ Schools FIRST (Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas) financial accountability rating system. The Superior Achievement is the state’s highest, demonstrating the quality of the District’s financial management and reporting system. District earns superior rating for financial integrity

2010-2011 District Highlights Grapevine High School’s annual Tribute to Veterans will begin at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11. Activities include a Red Carpet Walk, assembly with guest speaker Mr. Edward Yrisarri, Jr., United States Navy, Retired, breakfast and a dedication in the Veteran’s Memorial Garden. 2010-2011 District Highlights Thanksgiving Break is Approaching, Nov. 22-26 Students and staff will enjoy a week off from instruction, Nov. 22-26, to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. Central Administration and campuses will be closed this week. School resumes on Monday, Nov. 29th. Coming up: Winter Break will be observed Dec. 20-Dec. 31. Everyone will return on Monday, Jan. 3.

2010-2011 District Highlights Graduation for the Class of 2011 will be on Saturday, June 4, 2010, at the Dallas Convention Center. Colleyville-Heritage High School: 2 p.m. Grapevine High School: 7:30 p.m. (Pending contract approval) Save the date: Graduation for Class of 2011 set
